About Tianjin Foods
Tianjin Foods is one of the chinese restaurants listed in Ithaca, New York. The business is registered at 171 E State St Apt 136, Ithaca, NY 14850; use this page to check its hours, phone number and Google rating before you make the trip.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Ithaca; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in New York are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
Hours are published for 2 days a week. On most of those days it is open 9 AMβ8 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Tianjin Foods at (917) 731-2258; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.
Its Google rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 251 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.
Ithaca is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Ithaca is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Amazing!!! This place is a gold mine hidden away! When I came up to the windows I was immediately handed a free hot hand pancake sort of thing - the elderly cashier was very kind despite the language barrier, and made me feel very welcomed. I could see the elderly owners in the back hand making the dumplings - truly something you never see. When the food came out it was piping hot and had large portions (especially for being very affordable). Ngl the MOST authentic place I have ever been to. They deserve 5 stars.

The food was excellent. I got the number 6. Beef noodle soup. Great broth, melt in your mouth savory beef and fresh tasting noodles. Very friendly people. The lady gave us this tummy sample that was like an egg and spinach ring very tasty. Nothing wrong with the atmosphere. I would love to come back and try some dumplings.

People are really nice here. Even though I was alone and donβt speak any Chinese, the kind lady offer me some soy milk and try her best to communicate. The food is good too! Highly recommend!!

We were driving through town on a road trip and stopped here for dinner. Iβm from northern China and tian Jin is in a similar region. I have to say the buns tasted just like my the ones my mom made. You can definitely tell the dough is made from scratch as well as the filling. The lady who was running the shop was very welcoming, definitely characteristic of northern Chinese. Would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to try authentic northern Chinese food

Since the new owner took over, both food and service improve significantly! The Fujian-style taro dumplings in soup (taro as the dumpling wrap) are the best. Also love their dried bamboo (a bit difficult to find usually) buns! Very lovely, smiley and hard-working couple! They kindly offered me soy milk for free.
